Restrictions
These rules and guidelines are for your safety, and the safety of our staff. Please consider them before deciding to rent with us. We have found that by following a simple set of guidelines, everyone has fun and comes back safe.
Rules
1 We will provide all the equipment and instruction you will need.
2 Everybody wears PFD's (Coast Guard Approved Life Jackets) for the entire duration of the rental.
3 Operating any boat under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited.
4 Disposing of any item considered to be litter in Indian River or on an Island is illegal.
5 Children under the age of 14 who are operating a boat must be directly supervised by an adult.
6 Respect the rights of other boaters on the water and islands.
7 Be prepared to swim.
8 If you capsize, hold on to your boat unless it presents a life-threatening situation.
9 If you don't have a watertight cell phone container, you must stay in sight of the rental location.
10 If you plan on going around the island, tell us your plan, leave us your number, and bring our number!
11 Only an adult can sign the rental agreement and liability form.
12 Renters are financially responsible to return Kayaks and safety equipment in good condition.
13 Children under 14 must have a parent or adult accompany them.
14 Those 14 to 18 need a guardian's signature.
15 Renters must be able to enter and exit the boat from the water.
WEIGHT, AGE, AND OTHER RESTRICTIONS:
WEIGHT LIMITS:
Weight limits on kayaks vary but are as follows. For single kayaks the weight limit is 280 lbs. For tandem kayaks the weight limit is 450 lbs for the combined weight of two people. For the Yakats the weight limit is 950 lbs. This is due to the product specifications of our kayaks. All kayaks that are made have weight limitations. It is very important to be honest and not to exceed this weight limit. If you show up for your reservation and you are over the weight limitations, you will forfeit your reservation at your expense. So once again please make sure you do not exceed any of our limitations that are specified above or below. This is for your safety and for the longevity and structural integrity of our boats. Damage done to any boat due to the misuse or exceeding limits explained here will be at your expense.
AGE LIMITS:
Age limits for kayak use are 12 years old for single kayaks, and 10 years old for tandem kayaks and must be accompanied by an adult. Reservations and rentals will not be made for groups of minors who aren't accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. Schools are the exception to this rule and other written permissions apply. Please do not make reservations for minors or groups of minors to take trips without their parents or chaperone's with them. They must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. All of these rules and regulations are for the safety of our customers, our staff, and for the longevity of our equipment. We are an ECO Tour company please keep that in mind as well.
TRANSPORTATION OF KAYAKS:
We do not allow you to rent a kayak and transport any where. We have a specific launch and return location. The trip or time limit that you choose should be taken in to consideration in relation to the area that you stay in while renting our kayaks. Please do not take or transport the kayaks outside of the rental area you have agreed upon.
ALCOHOL:
Alcohol consumption is not allowed on our kayaks, eclectic boats.
Alcohol is permitted on the Islands but in limitation. Florida Fish and wildlife take this very seriously.
YOUR CONDITION
Most importantly if you feel like your age, physical health, or mental condition may cause any harm to yourself or anyone else , including our staff please do not rent from us. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. Also, if for any reason we feel that your age, physical, mental condition or behavior and attitude may put yourself, your group, other people, our equipment, property or staff in jeopardy, we will not rent to you.
DOGS:
We are a dog friendly company and you may bring your furry friends. Please make sure that their weight is taken into consideration. Large dogs may need to be considered 1 person, due to size limitations of kayaks, but we won't charge for them. All dogs are free who are accompanied by a paying adult in a kayak. Dogs are not permitted on the islands without a leash.
REMEMBER:
Remember to use common sense when renting and using the kayaks. You are responsible for them while they are in your possession. All renters and occupants of the kayaks and Yakats will be required to sign a waiver. Minors will have their parents or legal guardians fill out the appropriate forms and will accompany them.
